LogMeIn

Remote Access

The ability for an engineer to remotely control your computer from any location with a broadband connection is now a reality and is in widespread use by many service organisations.

This form of communication technology now enables us (with the users consent) to connect securely to a home PC or laptop and not only diagnose, but in many cases repair it too. This clearly has many advantages over either bringing it to the workshop or booking a home visit both in terms of cost and convenience.
How does it work and is it secure?
A computer user in need of support downloads and runs a small 557K Applet that connects to the LogMeIn Rescue Technician Console. This enables us to chat, remote control, transfer files, view system information, and reboot the remote PC to resolve the issue.
Rescue establishes a secure connection to the remote PC through the LogMeIn Gateway, automatically traversing firewalls and resolving dynamic IPs. Communication is then handed off to a direct peer-to-peer connection (when possible) using LogMeIn's patent-pending technology.
You remain fully in control of your computer and because of the text based chat system we can advise you on all stages of the repair and of course you can ask any questions that you need answered.

*Special rates available for schools & small businesses with 2 or more computers.

If we cannot fix the computer by remote, we will either ask you to bring it in, or we can arrange a call to your home to repair it, however you will only pay the normal repair charge; the cost of the remote time is cancelled. So there are no extra costs involved.
