Laptop Repairs

Laptop repair differ from PC repairs in the respect that to get access to the internal components of a PC you remove a couple of screws or unclip a lever and the whole side of the case comes off exposing the internal workings. A laptop however requires dismantling in a particular sequence requiring a great deal of care and attention to detail. To access the motherboard of a laptop will take up to an hour and may require the removal of 30 screws or more, plus the screen, CPU, hard drive, DVD drive and keyboard. To reassemble without any screws left over or damage to the machine is the real test!
Needless to say all laptop repairs are carried out in our workshop where we can repair broken DC sockets (common fault on lots of machines), replace screens, keyboards and deal with overheating faults. We can also replace (and sometimes repair) the mains adaptor which often fail due to damaged leads or overheating.
Other problems are software related and are in common with desktop computers, for example virus problems, slow start up, crashing etc. The solutions are either clean up and tidy or reload and set up as new. Sometimes additional RAM (memory) may be needed to get the performance up to a decent level. It is often a good idea to increase the RAM at the time of a full reload as this will significantly improve the whole laptops performance to a level better than new.

With our many years of experience in electronics servicing we can often repair your laptop and save you the cost of replacement.
