Data Backup
We entrust so much information to hard drives these days that it is not surprising that from time to time data will be lost. This can be due to user error (deletion of files by accident), Virus infection (less common form of data loss but still possible) or a total hard drive failure (this is quite often found with a newish hard drive as a result of manufacturing errors).
If you take a look at your PC or laptop files and imagine they were all gone, how much of a problem would this be? If the answer is "a big problem" then you should have a backup.
So how do you back up reliably?
We recommend the use of a portable external hard drive along with a semi automatic back up routine. Not a fully automatic routine because this can lead to complacence and your backup may stop working without your noticing it. Instead a semi automatic routine requires you to manually start and check the backup so it is far less likley for an error to go unnoticed.
We can provide a drive and configure a backup routine for you to use. We explain how it works and ensure you know how to not only backup, but restore data too.
If any of your important data eg: Photographs, Music, Videos or work documents exist on a single hard drive, don't delay get a backup drive.
If you have a PC or laptop coming in to us for repair you can have a backup drive fitted and data copied at the same time.
